Republicans Question Removal of Deb Haaland Reference in Epstein Report
Two Republican members of New Mexico's Epstein truth commission, Reps. Andrea Reeb and Bill Hall, have raised concerns over the omission of a reference to Democratic gubernatorial nominee Deb Haaland in the commission's interim report. The report, released on August 5, 2026, initially included a mention of Haaland's 2014 flight on an Epstein-connected aircraft, which was agreed upon by all commission members on August 4. However, the reference was removed without the knowledge or approval of Reeb and Hall. They claim that the chair, Andrea Romero, continued to direct changes to the report into the morning of August 5, and an embargoed copy was sent to the media before they were notified. The Republicans argue that the removal of Haaland's name was politically motivated to protect her during her gubernatorial campaign.
