Israeli Hiker Found Dead on Japan's Mount Asahi Amid Harsh Weather Conditions
The body of Tevel Shabtai, a 23-year-old Israeli woman, was discovered on Mount Asahi in Hokkaido, Japan, after she went missing during a solo hiking trip. Shabtai had informed her mother of her plans to climb the mountain on May 1, but lost contact shortly thereafter. The search, which involved Japanese police, rescue teams, volunteers, and a helicopter, was hampered by severe weather conditions, including freezing temperatures and strong winds. Magnus Search and Rescue, an Israeli company, coordinated with local authorities and a professional named Manoach to manage the search efforts. Despite the challenging conditions, Shabtai was eventually found deceased.
