Hollywood Hills Hiker Dies Despite Air Rescue Effort
A middle-aged hiker died in the Hollywood Hills on Saturday afternoon despite efforts by first responders to rescue him by air. The Los Angeles Fire Department received an alert at 6:42 p.m. about a hiker in grave medical condition off Nichols Canyon Road near Hollywood Boulevard. At least 26 fire personnel responded to the scene. A Fire Department helicopter was deployed to lower first responders to the hiker's location. Despite their efforts, the man was declared dead shortly afterward. The identity of the hiker, believed to be in his 50s, has not yet been released by the county coroner’s office. The cause of death remains undetermined as fire officials could not ascertain whether the man suffered from a medical condition.
