Water Receding at Big Falls Dam, Flash Flood Warning Expires in Waupaca County
The Big Falls Dam on the Little Wolf River in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, has stabilized after heavy rains led to a flash flood warning. According to WLUK, the warning was issued at 10:15 a.m. on April 14, 2026, and expired at 4:15 p.m. the same day. The dam has not breached, and the embankments made of sand, dirt, and gravel have held well, as confirmed by Zac Van Asten, the Waupaca County Emergency Management Director. Water levels are receding, and the National Weather Service forecasts less rain than initially expected for Tuesday night. Despite the stabilization, officials continue to monitor the situation closely, especially as a dam near Shawano is at risk of failure.
