Citrus Project in Ba-Phalaborwa Enhances Job Creation and Local Livelihoods
The Majeje Sitrus Farm in Ba-Phalaborwa, Limpopo, is making significant strides in agricultural development, according to Mpho Mashamba, head of the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The 450-hectare citrus orchard project is part of a broader strategy to expand agricultural production and agro-processing in the region. During a recent oversight visit, Mashamba noted the project's progress in infrastructure development, including electricity supply, irrigation systems, and storage facilities. The project has created 136 jobs, with a focus on youth and women employment, aligning with national priorities to increase black producers' involvement in the agricultural value chain.
