MSU Space Cowboys Rocketry Team Wins First Place at International Competition
The Mississippi State University Space Cowboys Rocketry Team celebrated its 20th anniversary by winning first place at the International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) in Midland, Texas. The team's rocket, named Bandit, outperformed 143 teams from 16 countries, achieving a maximum altitude of 29,518 feet. This victory marks the second time the Space Cowboys have claimed the top overall award, with their last win in 2015. The team, composed of students from various engineering disciplines, has consistently excelled in the 30K COTS category, which involves rockets with a maximum altitude of 30,000 feet using commercially available components.
