Teenage Barrel Racing Competitor Arrested for Stabbing Horses at Las Vegas Event
A teenage girl participating in a barrel racing event in Las Vegas was arrested after allegedly stabbing three horses with a pocketknife. The incident occurred at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, which hosts a large equestrian center. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the horses sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment from an on-site veterinarian. The 17-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was charged with multiple counts related to animal maiming and property destruction. The event was organized by the National Barrel Horse Association, and the horses are expected to recover but will not compete in the near future.
