U.S. Representatives Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Address Childcare Workforce Shortage
A group of U.S. Representatives, including Glenn 'GT' Thompson (R-PA), Lucy McBath (D-GA), Mike Lawler (R-NY), John Mannion (D-NY), Jen Kiggans (R-VA), and Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), have introduced the Early Childhood Workforce Advancement Act. This bipartisan legislation aims to tackle the shortage of childcare workers by investing in career and technical education (CTE) programs. The bill seeks to incentivize students to enter the early childhood workforce upon graduation. The legislation is designed to create pathways in childhood education to meet the needs of parents, children, and workers. It proposes awarding grants to eligible partnerships, such as institutions of higher education and childcare providers, to establish or expand career and technical education programs in early childhood education.
