Nzema East MCE Initiates Investigation into Fatal Adelekezo-JAS Mining Clash
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nzema East Municipality, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson, has announced an investigation into a violent clash between the youth of Adelekezo, a farming community near Axim, and JAS Mining Company. The incident, which occurred last weekend, resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy, injuries to several individuals, and significant property damage, including vehicles and equipment belonging to the mining company. In a statement issued on December 15, 2025, the MCE condemned the actions of both parties and called for calm as the investigation proceeds. The Assembly has assured that no individual responsible for instigating the violence will be shielded. The clash follows a previous incident in September 2025, where the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) arrested Chinese nationals associated with the company during a routine visit. The company was found to have valid documents for its operations, which had not yet commenced at the time.
