Wyoming Freedom Caucus Faces Significant Losses in Primary Elections
The Wyoming Freedom Caucus has experienced substantial setbacks in the recent primary elections, with at least 14 incumbent lawmakers losing their seats. According to the Associated Press and county-level preliminary results, members or allies of the caucus, including Representatives Steve Johnson, Tony Locke, Ocean Andrew, Ken Pendergraft, Marlene Brady, Jayme Lien, Nina Webber, Mark Jennings, Gary Brown, Daniel Singh, Ann Lucas, Robert Wharff, and Darin McCann, along with Senator Bob Ide, were defeated. These losses occurred despite the caucus's stated goal of gaining a supermajority in the House and a majority in the Senate. House Speaker and Freedom Caucus member Chip Neiman is also reportedly losing his bid to unseat Senate President Ogden Driskill. While some Freedom Caucus incumbents, such as Rep. Tomi Strock and Rep. Bill Allemand, successfully defended their seats, the overall outcome indicates a significant shift away from the caucus's influence in the state legislature.
