Naval Postgraduate School Expands Space Research with MC3 Network
The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California, is advancing its space research capabilities through the Mobile CubeSat Command and Control (MC3) network. This network, unique among academic institutions, supports space operations and research involving CubeSats, small satellites that offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional space missions. The MC3 network, owned and operated by NPS, allows for collaboration with various U.S. government organizations, contractors, universities, and international partners. Recently, NPS launched a CubeSat named Otter via a SpaceX rocket, marking a significant milestone in its space research endeavors. The MC3 network facilitates real-time satellite tracking and data collection, enhancing the school's ability to conduct hands-on research and develop innovative solutions in the space domain.
