Larry G. Simons, Vietnam Veteran and Community Member, Passes Away at 78
Larry G. Simons, a resident of Craigville, Indiana, passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Portland, Indiana, Simons served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1969. He later married Sandra Swafford, and the couple lived in Florida before returning to Indiana in 2000. Simons worked for the Florida Department of Corrections and later as a truck driver for Schneider Trucking. Known for his skills in karate and his love for sports, Simons was a respected member of his community. He is survived by his wife, son, and siblings. Funeral services will be held on August 6, 2026, with full military honors.
