Conservative Influencer Faces Criminal Probe for Minnesota Voting Stunt
Conservative influencer Cam Higby is under criminal investigation in Minnesota after a voting stunt he conducted went viral. Higby, along with conservative media figure James O’Keefe, visited three polling places in Minneapolis, allegedly dressed in niqabs and imitating foreign accents, to expose perceived weaknesses in the state’s vouching law. This law permits registered voters to attest to a potential voter's residency at the correct precinct, typically used by individuals who have recently moved. Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon confirmed that law enforcement initiated an investigation after the video of their encounters with poll workers, which was heavily edited, gained widespread attention following recent primary elections. During their visits, Higby reportedly gave the names of registered voters and attempted to vouch for a colleague, but left one polling place after being informed his colleague would need to show identification to register.
