Colombia Ranked Fourth Riskiest Solo Travel Destination Due to Crime and Internet Issues
A recent study by Squaremouth, a U.S. travel insurance comparison site, has ranked Colombia as the fourth riskiest destination for solo travelers in 2026. The study evaluated 113 countries using a 10-point risk index, considering factors such as access to reliable medical care, safety indices, local safety sentiment, and internet connectivity. Colombia received a risk score of 8.38 out of 10, with crime and poor internet connectivity identified as significant concerns. The study aims to assist solo travelers, who often lack the support network of group travel, in planning and insuring their trips more effectively. South American countries, including Venezuela, Peru, and Bolivia, featured prominently in the top ten riskiest destinations, highlighting regional safety challenges.
