Frontier Airlines Flight Strikes and Kills Pedestrian at Denver Airport, Causing Engine Fire
A Frontier Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles struck and killed a pedestrian on the runway at Denver International Airport on Friday night. The incident occurred at approximately 11:19 p.m. when the pedestrian, who had reportedly jumped a perimeter fence, was hit by the aircraft during takeoff. The Airbus A321 was carrying 224 passengers and seven crew members. Following the collision, smoke was reported in the cabin, prompting the pilots to abort the takeoff and evacuate passengers via slides. Emergency crews responded quickly, extinguishing a brief engine fire. Twelve passengers reported minor injuries, with five transported to local hospitals. The identity of the pedestrian has not been disclosed, and they are not believed to be an airport employee.
