Penn State's CSRAI Launches 'Research-a-thon' to Showcase Generative AI in Academic Research
Penn State University's Center for Socially Responsible Artificial Intelligence (CSRAI) has initiated the 'Research-a-thon,' a competition designed to highlight innovative applications of generative AI in academic research. The contest is open to all Penn State researchers, including collaborative teams, and requires submissions detailing how generative AI has advanced their research projects. This can include its role in literature review, hypothesis generation, experimental design, data collection and analysis, modeling and simulation, or communication of results. Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on December 1. A panel of judges will evaluate entries based on innovation, originality, the significance of AI's contribution, and its impact on research outcomes. Awards will be given for first, second, and third place, with prizes of $5,000, $2,000, and $1,000 respectively, along with $500 honorable mention awards.
