Peru Presidential Election Results Delayed Due to Voting Extension
The results of Peru's presidential election have been delayed after logistical issues led to a one-day voting extension for thousands of voters. More than 52,000 residents in Lima, as well as Peruvians registered in Orlando, Florida, and Paterson, New Jersey, were granted an additional day to cast their ballots. The election features 35 candidates vying for the presidency amidst a backdrop of rising crime and corruption. Voter discontent is high, with many viewing candidates as unprepared for the presidency. The election also includes the selection of members for a bicameral Congress, a significant legislative reform.
