Three Dead and 18 First Responders Sickened by Fentanyl Exposure in New Mexico
In a tragic incident in Mountainair, New Mexico, three individuals have died and 18 first responders have been sickened due to exposure to fentanyl and other opioids. The New Mexico state police discovered four people unconscious in a home, with two declared dead at the scene and a third dying later at a hospital. The first responders, who were exposed to the substance while attending to the scene, experienced symptoms such as nausea and dizziness, leading to their hospitalization and decontamination. Preliminary findings indicate that fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl, and methamphetamine were involved in the deaths. Despite the severity of the incident, no charges have been filed, and there is no evidence of drug manufacturing at the location.
