Lightning Suspected in Morton Grove House Fire on April 16
On April 16, the Morton Grove Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a two-story single-family residence on the 5400 block of Hoffman Terrace. The fire, which affected the roof, attic, and exterior wall, was quickly extinguished by the firefighters. Fortunately, all occupants evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. Initial investigations suggest that a lightning strike may have caused the fire, although the exact cause remains under investigation. The Morton Grove Fire Department received assistance from several neighboring fire departments, including those from Niles, Park Ridge, Evanston, North Maine, and Glenview, while Des Plaines, Northbrook, and Wilmette departments managed other emergencies in the area.
