New Community Building Enhances Foodbank's Efforts to Combat Hunger
The Foodbank Inc. is set to open a new 12,000-square-foot community building as part of its 50th-anniversary celebrations. The facility, which includes exam rooms and classrooms, aims to support the organization's mission to eliminate hunger and its root causes. The building will provide wraparound services, including access to community health workers and food assistance information. U.S. Rep. Mike Turner, who helped secure $2 million in federal funding for the project, emphasized the importance of the facility in serving food-insecure residents in Greene, Montgomery, and Preble counties. The Foodbank, which distributed over 17 million pounds of food last year, continues to work with partner agencies to address food insecurity in the region.
