National Fraternal Order of Police Endorses Representative Figures' Education Aid Bill for Public Servants' Children
U.S. Representative Shomari Figures (D-Alabama) announced that the National Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed his Public Service Educational Assistance Act. This legislation aims to cover college and job-training costs for the children of law enforcement officers, other first responders, educators, and social workers. The bill, introduced by Figures in September, is co-sponsored by Senator Cory Booker (D-New Jersey), Representative Jahana Hayes (D-Connecticut), and Representative Mike Ezell (R-Mississippi). The proposed act would establish a federal education assistance program to fully cover postsecondary education and training for dependents of public servants who have completed at least 20 years of qualifying service. Patrick Yoes, National President of the National Fraternal Order of Police, expressed support for the bill, highlighting its potential to aid in law enforcement recruitment and retention while providing educational opportunities.
