U.S. Army Seeks AI Cybersecurity Agents to Combat Evolving Threats
The U.S. Army is actively seeking artificial intelligence (AI) agents to enhance its cyber defense capabilities, aiming to counter threats that human analysts cannot address quickly enough. This initiative, known as Project Griffin, is a pilot program designed to build an ecosystem of AI agents that can ingest data from the Army's vast network sensors and autonomously execute defensive actions against malicious cyber actors. The capability, dubbed the Intelligent Response and Orchestration Node (IRON), is intended to automate cyber detection and response, potentially operating autonomously in the future, in conjunction with human operators.
