Washington State Patrol Arrests Suspect in Wrong-Way DUI Crash on I-5 in Tacoma, Injuring Four
On Mother's Day, a serious wrong-way DUI crash occurred on Interstate 5 south in Tacoma, Washington, resulting in four people being injured, three of them seriously. The Washington State Patrol (WSP) confirmed that the crash took place near South 84th Street during the 8 a.m. hour. The incident led to the closure of all southbound lanes, causing significant traffic delays in the area. State troopers arrested one individual in connection with the crash, charging them with driving under the influence (DUI) and vehicular assault. Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues. The crash scene showed scattered debris and a vehicle with significant front-end damage. Authorities established detours to manage the traffic, urging drivers to avoid the area to prevent further congestion.
