Franklin Police Department Opens First Campus-Style Police Station in Kentucky
The Franklin Police Department has inaugurated its new facility at 501 W. Madison St., marking the establishment of Kentucky's first campus-style police station. This new development, which opened its doors in 2024, includes a Community Room designed for public city meetings and various community events. The department's vision for this campus extends beyond the police facility itself, with ongoing construction plans to incorporate a community pavilion, a walking trail, a playground, and basketball courts. Additionally, an historic African American School House located on the property has undergone exterior renovations and is now available for rental opportunities, managed by the local African American Heritage Center. This initiative reflects the department's commitment to community engagement and providing comprehensive services.
