Shannon Taylor Wins Democratic Primary in Virginia's 1st District, Aiming to Unseat GOP Rep. Rob Wittman
Shannon Taylor has emerged victorious in the Democratic primary for Virginia's 1st District, defeating six other candidates. Taylor, the Commonwealth's attorney for Henrico County, is set to challenge incumbent GOP Rep. Rob Wittman, who has held the seat since 2007 and has President Trump's endorsement. The district, which includes parts of the Richmond suburbs and rural counties, is rated 'lean Republican' by the Cook Political Report. Taylor's candidacy is supported by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Red to Blue program, as well as endorsements from Virginia's Democratic U.S. senators and Governor.
