USCIS Adjusts Immigration Fees for FY 2027, Affecting Asylum, TPS, and Parole Applicants
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced inflation-based adjustments to certain immigration fees for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027, effective for filings postmarked on or after October 16, 2026. These changes, mandated by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1), primarily impact petitions related to asylum, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and parole. The fee increases range from $3 to $30, reflecting a 3.36% rise in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) between July 2025 and July 2026. For example, the Immigration Parole Fee (Form I-131) will increase from $1,020 to $1,050, and the Initial TPS EAD (Form I-765) will rise from $560 to $570. USCIS has stated that any applications submitted with incorrect payment amounts after the effective date will be rejected, potentially causing significant delays for applicants.
