Nebraska Police Fatally Shoot Woman After She Slashes Child with Knife at Walmart
In Omaha, Nebraska, police shot and killed a woman who allegedly kidnapped and slashed a young boy with a knife outside a Walmart. The incident began when the suspect approached a female shopper and her 3-year-old child inside the store. The woman reportedly shoplifted a large knife and took the child, effectively kidnapping him. Deputy Chief Scott Gray stated that the suspect forced the woman to walk in front of a shopping cart while holding the child at knifepoint. The situation escalated outside the store, where the suspect began swiping the knife at the child, injuring him. Police arrived on the scene following a 911 call and, after the suspect refused commands, an officer fired at her, resulting in her death. The child sustained a large laceration on his face and hand but is expected to survive. The motive behind the suspect's actions remains unclear, and the two women did not know each other.
