Idaho Schools Implement Daily Moment of Silence Under House Bill 623
Idaho public schools have begun implementing a new daily moment of silence, mandated by House Bill 623, which became state law in July. This legislation requires students to observe at least 60 seconds of silence at or near the beginning of each school day. During this time, students are permitted to reflect, meditate, pray, or engage in any other silent activity of their choosing. Crucially, the law explicitly prohibits school staff from directing students on how to utilize this quiet period.
