David Schweikert Supports Decertification of Organ Procurement Organization Amid Investigation
David Schweikert, a Republican representative from Arizona, has been actively involved in the investigation of Network for Hope, an organ procurement organization (OPO) accused of improper practices. The Ways and Means Committee, led by Chairman Jason Smith and Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Schweikert, has been probing allegations of Medicare fraud and unsafe practices by the OPO. The Trump Administration, through Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., has decertified Network for Hope following these allegations. This action follows a similar decertification of another OPO, Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency, in 2025. The investigation was prompted by reports that Network for Hope continued organ recovery efforts even when patients showed signs of life, raising serious ethical and safety concerns.
