Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Corvette Drivers Arrested for Street Racing in Jacksonville
Two drivers, one in a Dodge Challenger and another in a Chevrolet Corvette, were reportedly caught street racing at speeds exceeding 120 mph on the Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville, Florida. Unbeknownst to them, Officer Ernesto Valerio of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Specialized Traffic Enforcement Unit was directly behind them in an unmarked SUV. The officer, who was specifically patrolling for street racers, observed the drivers pacing each other before the Corvette driver signaled a countdown, and both vehicles accelerated rapidly. Officer Valerio subsequently apprehended 22-year-old Quashay Frazier Jr., the driver of the Challenger, on charges of super speeding and street racing. This arrest was part of Operation Double Down, a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office initiative targeting illegal street racing and excessive speeding, which resulted in eight arrests over the weekend.
