Former Obama White House Attorney Kathryn Ruemmler Defends Epstein Email Exchanges Before House Oversight Committee
Kathryn Ruemmler, who served as White House counsel under former President Barack Obama, recently defended her email exchanges with Jeffrey Epstein during a closed-door interview with the House Oversight Committee. The interview is part of an ongoing investigation into the federal government's handling of cases involving Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. Ruemmler, who was also the chief legal officer at Goldman Sachs, resigned from her position due to the fallout from her ties with Epstein. During the interview, Ruemmler described Epstein as a 'masterful liar' and stated that she was unaware of his criminal activities. She emphasized that if she had known about any abuse, she would have reported it to law enforcement. The committee is examining Ruemmler's relationship with Epstein, which included receiving gifts and being named in his will as a backup executor, a designation she claims to have been unaware of.
