Riverside County Brush Fire Prompts Evacuations and Damages Property
A brush fire, known as the Yearling fire, erupted in Riverside County's Jurupa Valley on Wednesday afternoon, leading to evacuations and property damage. The fire started around 4 p.m. in the 8500 block of Yearling Way in the Pedley community and quickly expanded to approximately 34 acres within an hour. As of 7 p.m., the fire was 25% contained. Riverside County Fire Captain John Clingingsmith Jr. reported that 110 fire personnel were actively combating the blaze using 30 engines, four hand crews, two dozers, and a water tender truck. The fire resulted in two individuals being hospitalized for possible smoke inhalation, while a third person received treatment at the scene. Although no structures were completely destroyed, at least one home sustained damage. Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for areas from Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Road east to Stone Avenue, extending toward Stone Elementary School and south to Paisano Way and Limonita Avenue.
