Iran Attacks US Navy Destroyers During Project Freedom Operation
On the first day of 'Project Freedom,' Iran launched an attack on two US Navy destroyers, USS Truxtun and USS Mason, as they transited the Strait of Hormuz. According to CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper, the destroyers were targeted with missiles and drones, and small Iranian craft attempted to interfere with their passage. Despite the intensity of the attack, neither destroyer was struck, and air defense assets successfully engaged the threats. The incident highlights the ongoing tensions in the region, with foreign-flagged vessels also coming under fire during the operation.
