U.S. Military Engages in Maritime Incident in the Omani Gulf
The U.S. military, under the Central Command (CENTCOM), reported an incident in the Omani Gulf where they temporarily seized an oil tanker suspected of violating an Iranian blockade. The tanker, flagged under the Comoros, was inspected and later released. This action is part of a broader enforcement of a naval blockade re-imposed by the U.S. in mid-July, aimed at restricting access to Iranian ports. The CENTCOM has reported multiple such interventions, including the use of force to immobilize a Mozambican-registered commercial vessel that attempted to breach the blockade.
