Israeli Soldier Moderately Wounded in West Bank Stabbing Attack, IDF Apprehends Suspect
A 24-year-old Israeli ultra-Orthodox Jew, who is also an off-duty IDF soldier, was moderately wounded in a stabbing attack near Al-Auja, a Palestinian village on Route 90 near Jericho in the West Bank. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when the soldier stopped at a shopping complex. He was stabbed from behind by a 16-year-old assailant who then fled the scene. Magen David Adom reported that the victim was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem for medical treatment. Following the attack, the IDF and Israel Police launched a massive manhunt, deploying several units including military aircraft, the Duvdevan undercover counter-terror unit, Nitzan 636 Unit, and the Jordan Valley Division. Security blockades were established in the area, and after several hours of searching, the IDF apprehended the teenage suspect in the Al-Auja area. Hamas praised the attack, stating it was a response to settler violence in the West Bank and the "escalating desecration" of Al-Aqsa.
