The Boring Company Advances Nashville Tunnel Project Amidst Local Opposition
The Boring Company is making significant progress on its 'Music City Loop' project in Nashville, Tennessee, which aims to create a two-tube tunnel system connecting the Tennessee State Capitol and Nashville International Airport. Two 400-ton Prufrock machines are currently boring through the Nashville limestone, with one machine, MB2, having launched in August and now racing against MB1, which began in February. The company has been providing regular updates, including drone footage and performance metrics, detailing the machines' capabilities, such as MB2's 1 million pounds of axial thrust and 4 million pounds of lateral gripping force. The project, estimated to cost between $240 million and $300 million, is being entirely funded by The Boring Company.
