World Customs Organization Hosts VII Global Canine Forum in Tashkent
The 7th WCO Global Canine Forum has commenced in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, bringing together representatives from customs services of over 50 states and experts from more than 15 international organizations. The event is attended by World Customs Organization (WCO) Secretary General Ian Saunders and the Chairman of the Customs Committee Akmalkhuja Mavlonov. This marks the first time Uzbekistan is hosting the WCO Global Canine Forum. Over three days, participants will engage in discussions on modern methods of employing service dogs, the training of dog handlers, the detection of narcotics, the development of canine infrastructure, and the implementation of international standards. A key outcome expected from the forum is the adoption of the WCO Compendium for Customs Canine Programs. Additionally, memoranda of cooperation are planned to be signed with the canine units of the customs services of Armenia, Russia, and Hungary.
