Oregon Lawmakers Secure $4.3 Million in Federal Grants for Public Safety Programs
U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, alongside Representatives Suzanne Bonamici, Andrea Salinas, Val Hoyle, and Maxine Dexter, have announced that Oregon will receive over $4.3 million in federal awards. These funds are designated for various public safety-related projects across the state. The grants are being provided through the Justice Department’s Byrne Discretionary Community Project Grants program. The funding will support initiatives in several Oregon cities, including Gresham, Salem, Beaverton, and Cottage Grove. Specific programs benefiting from these grants include youth intervention services, support for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, advocacy for foster children through CASA, a behavioral health court, and upgrades to police equipment.
