Dayton Nonprofit Senior Resource Connection to Close, Impacting Meals on Wheels Services
Senior Resource Connection, a nonprofit organization that has been serving seniors and disabled residents in the Miami Valley and Montgomery County since 1956, is set to close its operations in July. The organization provides essential services such as personal care, transportation, and daily hot meals through the Meals on Wheels program. According to a press release from Board of Directors Chair Rachel Gut, the decision to close was influenced by several years of operating deficits, rising costs, and insufficient long-term funding. Doug McGarry, executive director of the Area Agency on Aging, highlighted the critical nature of these services, particularly for individuals who are unable to prepare their own meals. The organization is now working to identify another group that can continue providing these vital services.
