Florida Agriculture Receives $600 Million in Hurricane Disaster Relief
Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson has announced the availability of $600 million in federal disaster relief funds for agricultural producers affected by hurricanes in 2023 and 2024. The funds, distributed through the Florida Block Grant Disaster Program, aim to assist with losses related to infrastructure damage, market loss, citrus loss, and timber damage. The funding represents approximately 35% of the total agricultural losses experienced during the hurricane seasons. Producers are encouraged to prepare documentation and review eligibility requirements ahead of the application period, which opens on February 25, 2026.
