Bozeman Police Department Swears In Four New Officers
The Bozeman Police Department recently welcomed four new officers: Cody Snyder, Joseph Winkler, Nicholas Vail, and Christian Nylund. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Public Safety Center, was attended by approximately 80 people, including family and community members. Police Chief Jim Veltcamp and City Manager Chuck Winn administered the oath of office. Each new officer brings a diverse background to the force; Snyder served in the Army Reserves and active duty as a Ranger, Winkler is an MSU graduate with a finance and marketing degree, Vail is also an MSU graduate who previously worked as an accountant and volunteer firefighter, and Nylund is a Gallatin Valley native. Their references highlighted traits such as compassion, commitment, and a servant's heart. The new officers will undergo 12 weeks of training at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy in Helena, followed by an additional 14 weeks of field training, completing an onboarding process that spans approximately one year.
