South Carolina State University Eliminates Nine Academic Programs Due to Low Enrollment and State Compliance Issues
South Carolina State University (SC State) has announced the deletion of nine academic programs following a comprehensive review of program enrollment, graduation rates, and state requirements. This decision aims to strategically invest resources and develop new academic programs aligned with emerging workforce needs. Eight of the nine programs have been out of compliance with the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education standards for over a decade, failing to meet enrollment and graduation rate benchmarks. SC State's compliance rate currently stands at 37 percent, the lowest in the state, compared to the public university average of 77 percent.
