Florida has been recognized as a national leader in workforce education, largely due to strategic initiatives under Governor Ron DeSantis. The state has maintained the top spot in higher education rankings since 2017 and boasts the highest two-year college graduation rates in the country. The Florida College System plays a pivotal role in this success, offering affordable education that aligns with the state's economic needs. This alignment is achieved through partnerships with employers and industry leaders, ensuring that educational programs remain relevant to high-demand careers. Since the 2018-19 academic year, Florida has introduced 218 new career and technical education frameworks in fields such as nursing, aerospace, and artificial intelligence. The state's commitment to workforce education is further evidenced by a 30% increase in postsecondary career and technical education enrollments since 2018-19.
