25 States Challenge President Trump's Tariffs on 60 Countries, Citing Legal Concerns
A coalition of 25 Democratic-led states has filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump's administration, challenging the legality of newly imposed tariffs on imports from 60 countries, including India. The lawsuit, submitted to the US Court of International Trade, argues that these tariffs, which range from 10% to 12.5%, are illegal and will lead to increased costs for consumers and businesses. The administration claims the tariffs are a response to forced labor concerns, but the states argue that the tariffs are arbitrary and lack sufficient justification. The lawsuit highlights that the administration's report identified only three products made with forced labor, questioning the broad application of the tariffs.
