Startups Reshape Pentagon's Drone Industry with Innovative Technologies
The Pentagon's drone industry is undergoing a transformation as startups play a pivotal role in developing innovative unmanned aircraft systems. During a recent 12-day event at Camp Grayling, Michigan, 49 companies competed in the Drone Dominance competition, part of a $1.1 billion program to strengthen the domestic drone industry. The competition evaluated small unmanned aircraft systems on performance, ease of use, and production scalability. Nineteen companies advanced to the next round, showcasing the rapid evolution of the defense drone industry, with many startups focusing on small UASs rather than traditional weapons.
