U.S. Rep. Greg Casar Reports ICE Detention of 5-Year-Old Boy in Austin, Calls for Release
U.S. Representative Greg Casar has reported that federal immigration agents detained a 5-year-old boy named Liam in Austin, Texas, while the child was en route to a soccer game. According to Casar, Liam is currently being held at the Dilley immigration detention facility in South Texas. Casar has publicly called for the immediate release of Liam and other children, as well as the closure of the Dilley facility, which he referred to as a 'trailer prison.' The Congressman also noted a significant increase in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in Austin's Rundberg neighborhood, with arrests reportedly increasing three to four times, reaching up to 90 individuals per day.
