MidAmerica Nazarene University to Honor Alumnus Kevin Gilmore for Extensive Civic Leadership
MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) is set to present the Michael Copeland Civic Leadership Award to alumnus Kevin Gilmore during its Homecoming Chapel on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place at College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas, and the public is invited to attend. Gilmore, an MNU graduate from 1984 with an MA in 2010, is being recognized for his decades of service to Olathe, MNU, and the Church of the Nazarene. His extensive civic service includes roles on the Olathe City Council, where he was appointed in 2020, elected to an at-large seat in 2021, and served as mayor pro tem from 2022 to 2023. He also served on the Olathe School Board and the Kansas State Board of Education, chairing the latter. Additionally, Gilmore was president of the Olathe School Board and the Olathe Chamber of Commerce Board.
