GLP-1 Drugs Linked to Weight Loss and Potential Hair Loss in New Study
A recent study has highlighted a potential side effect of GLP-1 drugs, commonly used for weight loss and diabetes management: hair loss. These medications, including popular brands like Ozempic and Wegovy, have been linked to increased instances of hair shedding, particularly among those using higher doses for rapid weight loss. The study, published in Science Progress, found that users of GLP-1 drugs were 3.4 times more likely to experience hair loss compared to non-users. Dr. Paradi Mirmirani from the University of California San Francisco noted that while hair loss can occur, it is usually temporary and manageable with proper nutrition and weight management.
