Baltimore County Launches New American Civic Leadership Academy to Boost Immigrant Civic Engagement
Baltimore County's Office of Immigrant Affairs is developing and launching a New American Civic Leadership Academy. This initiative aims to enhance civic leadership opportunities for immigrant residents, increase their participation in County government, and create pathways for engagement in public life. The program will feature a practical civic education and leadership curriculum covering the structure and functions of Baltimore County Government, decision-making processes, public participation opportunities, County boards and commissions, advocacy, policy literacy, public speaking, and community organizing skills. The Civic Engagement Fellow, a temporary 12-month position, will assist in designing and launching this cohort-based academy, supporting participant recruitment, communications, training logistics, and developing partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and County agencies.
