U.S. Representative Andy Harris, Maryland’s sole Republican in Congress and leader of the House Freedom Caucus, is facing a significant political challenge as Maryland Democrats pursue mid-cycle redistricting. Harris, who has served eight terms, has been a prominent figure in conservative politics, advocating for issues such as border security, election integrity, abortion, and government spending cuts. He has consistently won his district by double-digit margins, surviving two previous redistricting attempts. However, a recent ballot question approved by state Democrats could pave the way for redrawing his 1st Congressional District, potentially making his seat more vulnerable.
